MISTRAS Group Equips New Offshore Platform with Advanced NDT Equipment

Experts praise manufacturer’s work on Hartlepool gas field platform in preparation of installation

UNITED KINGDOM – September, 2015 – The platform was built at Heerema, Hartlepool, yard before it was sailed out for installation at the Cygnus gas site location in the southern North Sea. The topside was sailed out from the Hartlepool yard. Expert installers completed the installation of the offshore gas field platform in a sea depth of 80 ft.

Weighing more than 3,500 tonnes, Bravo Wellhead topside platform’s nondestructive testing (NDT) was carried out by the MISTRAS Group Hartlepool Lab, comprising of Radiography Se75 and Ir192 (including Close Proximity), UT, MPI, DPI and Eddy Current testing methods.

The Cygnus site is operated by business partners GDF SUEZ, Centrica and Bayerngas.
